Obituary to our own great leader Bikram Keshari Deo

Dear All,

It is very sad news for all of us that our own leader Mr. Bikram Keshari Deo, 3 times MP of Kalahandi is no more with us.

Personally I am very hurt and sad. I shared with him the desk in recent KSVP meeting on August 20, and interacted with him. He was a lovely person and I am unable to believe this news. He was very careful in listening and noting each and every point of the speakers on the development of Kalahandi.

He raised and fought many issues for Kalahandi in the parliament. He succeeded in some of them such as NH201, NH217 and world bank highways from Bhawanipatna to Khariar, some other he succeeded partially, such as raising the Central University issue in the parliament might give us an opportunity for a branch of IGNTU in future, helped taking a delegation to meet Orissa Chief Minister and influenced Orissa CM for Engineering and Agriculture colleges during BJP-BJD alliance, raised Lanjigarh road – Jungarh railway line and survey for Junagarh – Amaguda and Nabarangpur – Jeypur via Khariar, Dharamgarh, Ampani in the parliament. In the last meeting he informed us that 8 crore was sanctioned for the survey of each above two lines. He had also committed us to continue raising the struggle for a Central University in Kalahandi. He advocated industrialization in Kalahandi by supporting Vedanta. He had spent more than 90 % (one of the highest in Odisha) from MP development funds in Kalahandi in 2004. Detailed small and large contributions by Mr Deo for the development of Kalahandi can’t be written in a short time.

However, his gentle nature, softness and honesty are well known to the people of Kalahandi who elected him consecutively 3 times as their MP as well as Odisha. Despite political differences many leaders in Kalahandi, Odisha and in his party admire him for his personality and humanity.

There is a well saying in Kalahandi “even if Bikram babu wouldn’t do good he will never do bad for Kalahandi”, this is his great personality which rarely found in modern politics.

Indeed it was a great loss for the people of Kalahandi, Odisha and his party.

I pray his soul rests in peace.

With best regards

Digambara
